From a regular reader of this blog I heard the water of the waterfall was well done but the dark forms did not read as trees to her. To me they are trees but I want my painting to communicate that the viewer is looking down at trees being invaded by heavy rain water. To be true to perspective the trunk is painted larger up high and closer to the viewer than the trunk farther away and down below painted smaller. More important on my list of priorities is showing aging of the woodpecker trees. I am thinking I might add more visual clues like adding more moss texture on the closest one. Also making indications where branches are broken off. There is so much light on the falls there maybe shadows of branches with leaves in areas where the sun breaks through. But on the other hand I don't want the painting to be fussey picture post card pretty. I want it to be my true remembered impression.
