September 13, I saw a subject I wanted to paint from memory and not from a photograph. But then I had difficulty with the mud flats exposed by the low tide. They appeared rather blue and the blue that I first painted read as flat water.
I love the composition in this photo and frankly like it and the colors better than the painting you did from it. Maybe you can do it again with a different set of proportions?
I love this photograph too as a think in itself seperate from my actual on location experience. Or how I felt about it. There was a far greater range of color hues. And also the color value changes were greater. My attention was the colors on the water not the other things. I liked the contrast of the brightest sparkles of sunlight on the water. I was not getting the very small glitter and the slope of the mud bank. When I go over the acrylic with oil, the memory might be revealed as it first imacted me.
