"Redwood Sapling" is acrylic on cradled wood board 12" square by 1 1/2" deep. Not for sale until the completion of my series on our urban forest is complete.
Katie, After tweaking "Redwood Sapling" when it was perfectly resolved March 10, 2007, I really felt it was a gigantic mistake to go in and loose the first spotaneous strokes. Finally afterpainting over and over the upper half of the painting I found something I like better than the first one.
Cath, I found another painting I started in this series last March. It is a dream of a child fishing in the waters enhanced by the logs and trees my husband is falling for the Department of Fish and Wildlife. Also will paint a picture of a well managed urban forest. An urban forest can not be the same as wilderness, but it can be beautiful in its own way.
Cath and Katie, Yes, today I worked on the dream of a child fishing in the freeway lakes with the the fallen trees now serving as fish habitat. I also went for a hike at the Beazeal Forest in King's Valley. That was so enchanting with all the larkspur in bloom, I have also started a painting of the creek. So much to paint and so little time.
